Confession of A New Blogger

I'm very sure as you all can tell or know i'm VERY new at blogging, i've never done it before. But i love books and reading and i really want to do this blog and make it as great as i can.  I want to include everything you go out searching for when you go looking for a book blog to read.  But the problem is, even though i follow quite my share of book blogs, doing one on my own is very different, and that's why i would like you guys, the readers, to let me know some of your favorite things that you look for in a book blog, or features you like, to kinda help me know what direction i want to begin in, because there is so much.  So if you wanna leave a comment just letting me know what your favorite things/features are in a book blog, you would be helping me greatly. I know that dark purple on the blog was very hard to read and i have changed the colors up some, i hope it's easier to read now. And i hope it matches for that matter. I do have someone making me a header, button, and all that good stuff so that will be up as soon as i get it.

Review: LS: The Beginning by Kelvin O'Ralph

Book Description:
A handshake between strangers has never held so much promise for discovery.
When Stephen Wilson meets Lisa Morgan at his new school in Sloutenville, it is the simple act of extending his hand in greeting that flips both of their worlds upside-down. With the gesture, both discover that in some way they are connected, and that they share the ability to manipulate the elements, fire and water. Though their abilities vary, they share the gift of telepathy allowing them to communicate without words, which creates a bond between them stronger than either had expected.
As the two begin to spend more and more time together, David, Lisa's ex becomes wild with jealousy, lunching multiple attacks on Lisa. In the fight against the dangers that await them around every corner, Stephen and Lisa soon discover that they are up against much greater odds than they had originally known, and that their struggles are far from over.

My Review:
Where to start? OK, i wanted so badly to like this book, it had been on my to-be-read shelf for a long time. But .... i just didn't. I basically forced myself to finish it. It wasn't awful, I'm not saying that, this is a new author and it's very noticeable in the book, but having said that, he does show promise. I like the idea of the book, the paranormal aspects. But the way the characters talked, and lets note these are college kids, they talked as if they were 60 year old's at times. If not that the book should have been set in the early 1900's to make the way they talked more understandable. I also have trouble with the characters, i didn't feel like i could relate to them, Stephen, one of them is supposed to be in love w/ the other main character Lisa, but most of the time he is talking about how sexy the other females in the book are and comparing their looks to Lisa's. And his cousin in the book, Stacy, he talks and they act as if they are more than cousins at times. It also needed editing quite badly, at time's i had to re-read whole paragraphs to just to understand what i had just read. I do not fault the author because he is such a new author and i do want to give him props for the paranormal elements of being able to control the elements of fire and ice/water. That part was good. It was the rest that wasn't so much. Now this is not to say nobody would like this book, i think everyone should have their own opinion about a book and this is just mine. At this time i don't think i will continue on to the second book, though i may at a later time decide to read it, i just right now want to read something else as i had such a hard time with the first one. Happy reading! =)

My star rating - 2/5 stars
